Tromso, Northern Norway
Christian first started kayaking in a canoe polo boat in 2008. But he soon found his way into sea kayaking, exploring the Arctic coastlines, but Christian still likes playing around in his polo boats.
Having lived at 78 degrees North for three years, he has developed a passion for the wild northern latitudes, working as a guide, taking people sea kayaking, hiking and snowmobiling. He then moved ‘down South‘ to Tromsø, in the Arctic part of mainland Norway, in 2012.
Christian has been operating his own sea kayak expeditions in Tasiilaq, Eastern Greenland, since 2011. When at home in Tromsø he is a freelance sea kayak instructor and guide, and also a technical assistant for the Norwegian Polar Institute. He particularly enjoys kayaking with humpback whales and orcas in the fjords of “Tromsø’s backyard” during the winter months.
The majority of Christian’s time is now spent working as an expedition leader and guide in Svalbard, Antarctica, South Georgia and Greenland, during which he most enjoys developing the fascination of diverse groups of guests in the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife of the Arctic and Antarctic.
Christian has an infectious humour and enthusiasm, and he is looking forward to passing his “polar virus” on to you!
