About This Guide

I first started sea kayaking in 1986 but I have been paddling more seriously since 2007. I have kayaked throughout the UK and in Norway. This year I paddled from South Devon up the West Coast of England, Wales and Scotland to John O’Groats.

Beside’s having a passion for the Ocean and sea kayaking in general, I also love the mountains and in 2003 I had the privilege of leading the Royal Navy Mount Everest North Ridge expedition, this was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the mountain’s first ascent. As well as putting two team members onto the summit the team also rescued two injured climbers from a commercial expedition and six members of the team were awarded the Royal Humane Society’s Bronze Medal.

I served 23 years with the Royal Marines and this probably helped to develop my love for the outdoors and my other pursuits include, climbing, mountain biking, ski mountaineering and ski touring.
