Michael Alexader

Mike comes from a mountaineering background and has undertaken expeditions all over the world including Alaska, Bolivia, Peru, Costa Rica and Morocco. His love of the sea led him towards sea kayaking and he thrives on the scope for journeys and exploration that sea kayaking allows.

Mike has an holisitic approach to his sea kayaking and enjoys applying his skills and experience from cold water swimming, open boating and mountaineering to his expedition kayaking.

Mike has a range of paddlesports, mountain, and rescue qualifications which he uses in his role as Senior Instructor for The Outward Bound Trust. He is also a qualified teacher, and has a Masters degree in Engineering.

Mike is a descendent of the infamous pirate queen Grainne (Grace) O’Malley, and her home on the wild west coast of County Mayo is his favourite place to kayak.
