There are three levels of ISKGA Guide.

Advanced Guide:

An ISKGA Advanced Guide has been trained and observed to a level that confirms they are competent to lead a group of commercial clients on a multi-day expedition anywhere in the world in suitable conditions for the level of group that they are leading.

They will have the ability to plan and lead a safe and enjoyable expedition.  In addition to this they will be able to coach core expedition and sea kayaking skills, they can forage for food, build shelter, light fires and will have a sound environmental ethos.

Clients can be reassured by the guides knowledge and experience with their VHF license, Food hygiene certificate, thorough training in Incident management, advanced first aid and have an understanding of group dynamics.

An ISKGA Advanced Guide is a holistic sea kayak guide, possessing skills that are perfect for anyone wishing to run their own commercial guiding business. (read more)

Coastal Guide:

An ISKGA Coastal Guide has been assessed to a level that confirms they are competent to lead a group of commercial clients on day trips and multi-day expeditions in an intermediate environment suitable for the level of group they are leading.

They will have the ability to plan and lead a safe and enjoyable expedition.  In addition to this they will be able to coach skills, forage for food, build shelter, light fires and have a good environmental ethos.

Clients can be reassured by the guides knowledge and experience with their VHF license, Food hygiene certificate, Incident management training, advanced first aid and understanding of group dynamics.

An ISKGA Coastal Guide is a holistic kayak guide, the perfect candidate to run courses and expeditions for a commercial sea kayak operator. (read more)

Associated Guide:

An ISKGA associated guide has transferred their existing qualifications to the ISKGA frame work but have, as yet not completed the ISKGA syllabus. (read more
